Tuning:

The following should be taken into account
-
For a
piano to sound good it should be tuned regularly at least once a year.
-
If
you play your piano once a day for extensive periods it should be tuned
twice to three times a year for best results.

If
the piano is sited at a venue where it is played by professionals then it
needs to be tuned at least once per month.

Heavy
handed pianists can effect the tuning quality very quickly.

The
type of music played will effect the tuning also, Rachmaninov performances
for instance are very demanding.
-
Music
teacher's pianos are subjected to a variety of touches from their students
these pianos should be tuned once per term.
Ok now after all that... How much??
(...The more regular the piano is tuned the cheaper it gets
because it doesn't take that much time to reset...)
On my initial first visit I'll have to set the
temperament. This means that I'll tune your piano and in most cases set it
to A440 Concert pitch.

| If the piano has not been tuned inside 18 months: |
Standard
tuning $110.00 plus a mileage fee: $10 - $30 depending on where you
live. |
| Once the initial tuning has been done the fee
inside a 13 month period |
$90.00 + mileage. |
| Once the initial tuning outside 13 months |
$110.00 + mileage |
| If already tuned within 18 months to A440 |
$90 + mileage |
| Tuning from half tone, quarter tone to A440 |
$120 + mileage |
| Tuning from more than 1 tone flat to A440

$150 + mileage and $50+ mileage for
each follow up tune, could be up to 3 times inside 8 months |

For music teachers the mileage can be greatly reduced when
other tunings can be organized in their area if outside the Taupo District.

Music teachers inside the Taupo District are exclusive of
any mileage charge.

Please Note:

If you have a piano it pays to keep it
serviced regularly, as you can see it doesn't cost that much to keep it in
tune
-
Generally the longer you leave the piano
unattended the more it will cost you to set the temperament.
